The Constellations and the Galactic Plane in 3D
Each sphere is a point located at the approximate center of each constellation, 50,000 light years (ly) from the sun. The image of the Milky Way in the base grid parallels the galactic plane, and lies 49,757 light years below the actual galactic plane (initially visible as a thin horizontal line near the center of the video).
